Dauphin Hospital Foundation statement on the passing of Doug Deans.
The Dauphin Hospital Foundation is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Doug Deans. Doug was an integral part of the Foundation, having served as Board Chair for over 15 years before retiring in late 2020.
Mr. Deans guided the Foundation Board through several accomplishments and milestones during his tenure.
Among them was leading a charge to ensure the MRI Unit was completed in Dauphin, after advocating to the highest provincial levels in 2018.
He supported work on the hospital’s Palliative Care Redevelopment Project, endorsed the purchase of a $50,000 patient manikin to support medical teaching in the facility, and provided leadership in a major capital contribution toward construction of the Dauphin Community Health Services Building, which was completed in 2008.
Most notably, Doug promoted the benefits of donating to the Hospital Foundation at almost every turn. The community has lost a great champion. The Foundation will continue to recognize his contributions.
Sincere condolences and deepest sympathies to Doug’s family and friends during this difficult time.
